Vodootvodny Canal (Russian: Водоотводный канал, "water bypass canal") is a 4 kilometer long, 30-60 meter wide canal in downtown Moscow, Russia. It was built in the 1780s on the old riverbed of the Moskva River to control floods and support shipping. Canal construction created an island between the Moskva River and the canal. The island acquired its present shape in 1938 with the completion of Moscow Canal megaproject. The canal is spanned by eleventh bridges.

Very nice footage; you filmed much of it with the camera mounted on the front of your bike? There's a kind of rough-hewn old-time dignity to these streets and houses that feels inspiring, even to a foreigner like me. :)

Also, I notice the Swedish shop sign at 2:59, selling cakes and pastries. Must be a local Muscovite shop, because I've never seen that word used as a logo here in Sweden - though the word "kaffebröd" is common around here.. Do they specialize in Scandinavian/Swedish buns and pastries? :) Coffee is as big over here, and as central to joining up around the table, drinking and talking, as tea is in your country (though we drink a great deal of tea as well).
