Показать описание
Today’s episode of the Talk Heathen, Richard Gilliver joins ObjectivelyDan to take on death, the afterlife ... .and veganism???
00:00 Intro
06:33 Cas-(CA) | Hoping For An Afterlife
27:20 Tymm-WA | Nihilism Isn't A Negative
42:39 Julie-NM | Veganism Reduces Violence
54:27 Brandon-FL | Why Aren't YOU Vegan?
1:25:22 Herbert-AR | The Devil’s Deceitful Deception
Cas in Canada asking what our view is on death and the afterlife. While it can be comforting to hope our loved ones continue on somewhere else, we don’t believe in any afterlife. That may sound sad, but it gives a sense of beauty to this world. Hoping for an afterlife isn’t necessarily detrimental. Come at the idea pragmatically and realize this is the only life we know we get.
Tymm in WA thinks nihilism isn’t about meaninglessness but more about living your life with no expectation of afterlives. There are several interpretations of nihilism. We tend to agree with Nietzsche’s take, life is meaningless so we need to make our own meaning. People need to toss the idea that nihilists just think “woe is me”.
Julie in NM thinks veganism can reduce violence in the world if we didn’t normalize violence towards animals. It’s a nice idea to reduce violence overall but not sure if this would work globally. There are religious groups that denounce violence but still eat meat.
Brandon in FL sees a parallel in theists and meat eaters, finding people just fall on excuses to justify what they believe. We don’t see any moral imperative to being vegan. If vegans and meat eaters worked together to change the way we approach the meat industry.
Herbert in AR claims the devil is deceiving us and the “big lie” is the nature of our realm, solar system, and who created what. Hoo boy.. Now we live on the moon and telescopes show a reflection back to us. The “elites” know this, NASA is lying, and amazon does space deliveries?? This is pure speculation, we’d need evidence for that claim.
Thank you for tuning in to your community! This week's Talk Heathen To Me prompt is: Headline a bible story….using Florida man.
