That slap was an emotion how much Vito cared for and wanted Johnny to be strong successful man. That was a valuable slap and a wake up call for Johnny

Vito's comment about a man not spending time with his family can never be a real man was as much directed at Santino who had just come into the room as it was at Johnny.

The part where Don Corleone jumps out of his seat to scold Johnny made me laugh out loud when I first saw it

“I want you to leave all to me.”

That’s power.

I love at the end the Godfather looks and the expression is “I can’t wait for this day to end!”

Fun fact: the actor who plays Johnny is the Godson of mobster Russell Buffalina, who was famously portrayed by Joe pesci in The Irishman, and Russell actually pulled some strings so that he can get the role

I remember when i first went to college in the 90s, and my roommates couldn't believe i had ever seen this movie. They bought me the trilogy, and i have been hooked ever since.

"You can act like a man! What's the matter with you!?"

Honestly the atmosphere in the room when Vito mocks Johnny and Tom’s reaction is so realistic, heres a well respected figure clowning about and even when he does a bit of comedy theres skeptical smiles in the room 😂

1:09 - "a man who does not spend time with his family" - and looks right at Sonny as he is also talking to him

The slap in the face was not in the script, Brando just decided to do it. Actor Al Martino was shocked but Coppola left the the scene in.

Poor horse had to accept the 'offer'.

This film had the source material, a director with an incredible eye, cinematography, top notch costumes, the whole magilla.
What makes it timeless is the casting and the actors’ fine abilities. Name someone, they gave a stellar performance.
Example, the great Joe Spinell. Al Martino! Everyone is great

I think I remember reading somewhere that Vito mocking Johnny Fontane was actually not on script so the actor that plays Tom Hagen was genuinely laughing cus it was unexpected

Johnny turned in a great performance in From Here to Eternity. Glad his godfather came through for him.

Could this be Frank Sinatra speaking to Sam "Momo" Giancanna about playing the part of Maggio in the movie "From Here to Eternity"? That part won Frank an Oscar for best supporting actor that year and revitalized his career.
