While it’s definitely disappointing the original cast didn’t return to reprise their roles, the new cast has done an exceptionally well job at matching the pilot (though I do hope the original cast members get some roles in the show)

In the show it's said that lilith has been missing for 7 years, that's also how long Alastor was away for. Coincidence? Or Connected??? Absolutely LOVE this show!!! Got an Alastor tattoo couple of years ago so I'm glad they didn't change his look too much. He's my favorite character seconded by Angel Dust.

I’d argue Alastor is still terrifying, at least if you’ve watched episode two during his duet with Vox in “Stayed Gone”

If you notice that Lilith and Alastor has disappeared for 7 years but the moment Charlie asks for the mum's help in the pilot episode, Alastor appears on the hotel's doorsteps. Definitely a coincidence. Won't be surprised Alastor has made a deal with Lilith, which would explain why he's not scared or intimidated by anyone, even Lucifer. And now Zestial has had rumors' Alastor has dealt with Angels so imagine if Alastor made a deal with an Angel, he would be almost unstoppable.

Wow... y'all have... really not understood Alastor in the series at all. He doesn't believe in Charlie's mission any more than he did in the pilot--which is still 100% canon storywise, btw--and he's TERRIFYING. Did y'all make this having only watched episode one???

As for Alastor, I couldn't disagree more.... At no point did he seem to believe in Charlie's project, much less be redeemed.... And in my view he's much scarier! I don't know if the video is just to create quick content, but that seemed like an error in the video.

I like the fact that the pilot is cannon. In episode 1 (and beyond) there are numerous notes towards the pilot and even hits it home when the characters in episode 1 refer to previous events as “last week”.

The "politics" of overlords may actually not be retconned from pilot. The thing is, the meeting is only with the most powerful overlords, the ones that don't really need a square meter of land, and turf wars are fought beetween small overlords and regular people who want to gain power

honestly. I find new alastor to be way more terrifying. he's sharper and more joyful.

They need to add the pilot to prime because if someone hasn't watched the pilot before the show, they won't understand whats going on and what started it

changes in Pilot episodes and full series are generally common. When a director makes a Pilot they're doing their best to show everything the show will have to offer in a single episode, so it tends to be more packed, in all shows. The pacing changes in the actual episodes, which fleshes out characters a lot more and makes perceived changes to them. But so far everything in the final show fits perfectly with what Vivi has always said in podcasts, interviews and so on.

Can't wait for the season finale tomorrow!

Just finished the Amazon series, I do agree that Alastor didn't seem as scary as he did in the pilot. Still didn't know what his deal was motivationally but I really love the use of silhouettes and the visuals obscuring when he's tapping into his ominous side and just felt it wasn't as effective in the show. I think this is something that is really effective when it's used sparingly or for a purpose. Like if it were used during a time that's going to reveal deep lore about him. I felt like his "temper" ? idk what you want to call it, but it was used more like a bit in the Amazon show.

I'm really glad I wasn't the only one who noticed. I really liked how much more scary Alastor was in the pilot. I liked how weary everyone was of him and how he could overwrite the mood of the room with a tinge of fear just by walking in. He seemed unpredictable and mysterious and just evil enough. Now he seems far more petty.

All the voices sounded different, but I didn't realize the cast was completely new.

I actually disagree with the pacing, that shit ain't relaxed, I absolutely HATE how they resolved so many issues in the same episode, it makes it feel like they forgot they still have 4 episodes to the season

I wish they kept alastor as sinister as he was. It was cool whenever he came to frame anything he said even his voice was lower. Hes kinda soft for me now

i honestly think i liked the pilot more than the newer first episode, it's only some mere subtle changes but they just seemed so much more interesting and poppy back then. don't get me wrong, i love the first episode and think it's amazing, but if i had to choose i'd say the original is definitely way better in my opinion.

i think the thing i dislike the most is how grounded down they made all the characters, Alastor especially. it just made all of them seem more, well, hellish, now it's just different, and Alastor definitely isn't all that spooky anymore. i don't know, I feel like they didn't really grasp the same hell-vibe that the pilot did.
