St. Paul’s byelection: Trudeau, Freeland address 'disappointing” loss of Toronto stronghold

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke out Tuesday after the Conservatives snatched the historical Toronto stronghold of St. Paul's from his governing Liberal Party in Monday's federal byelection.

“I hear people’s concerns and frustrations,” Trudeau said, adding that his party is focused on getting Canadians “through these tough times.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said the result in the St. Paul’s byelection was “certainly disappointing” but that the prime minister continues to have the support of the Liberal Party.

“We know we have to work even harder delivering for Canadians [and] winning back the trust,” she said.

Mr. Trudeau and Ms. Freeland clearly reside in a different world than the rest of us. Delivering for Canada and Canadians has been there for the Liberals the past 9 years and they haven't delivered anything of note except record immigration, record debt, record deficits, and record interest payments. The insincerity is mind-boggling. They just lost the safest seat in Canada and their response is to double down. Then again, Mr. Trudeau and Ms. Freeland aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer.
