How to Upload Multiple Photos without Cropping to Instagram

On Instagram, it’s impossible to post an album — multiple pictures or videos in one post that you swipe through — with multiple different aspect ratios. For example, if you want to post a landscape image and a portrait image at the same time, you need to crop one or the other (or you could crop both to square). Instagram requires that your photos have the same aspect ratio.

To post multiple different photos or videos with different sizes on Instagram, you need to use a tool to resize them first. To avoid cropping out content, add a white background to make each photo or video in to a square. Then, you can post the album without cropping out or changing the size of your image. Here’s a step-by-step tutorial:

1) Upload your photos/videos to a resizer tool.
Open Kapwing’s Studio and, one at a time, upload the photos you want to post. Kapwing’s Studio is free to use and online, so you don’t need to download an app. It supports images, GIFs and videos.

Note: If you want to edit or add filters to your photos, make sure to do this before resizing. That way, the white background won’t be affected by the color changes and adjustments.

2) Add a white background behind each post
Choose the 1:1 option for Instagram (Kapwing also supports 9:16 sizing for Stories and other formats) and select a white background. You can use Kapwing’s zoom and positioning tools to zoom in, crop, or add a border. Click “Create” once the preview matches what you want your post to look like!

3) Download and post to Instagram
After resizing your posts, you can download them and share them on Instagram as an album. Since each photo/video now has a 1:1 aspect ratio, you can publish them without cropping.

I hope this helps you share your photos and videos with the world! Kapwing’s one-click editor was designed for people with no previous editing expertise, so don’t be afraid to try it out.

So stupid that Instagram makes it such a mission to upload multiple photos with different sizes. I shouldn’t have to rely on another app or have to crop the pics

Wow new to IG, I shouldn't have to do all this just for the photos to fit. I should be able to upload a picture without cutting friends heads off. IG needs to correct this problem, bc I dont have this problem on fb.

Can't it be done without boarders. I'm so tired of this issue. 😭😭😭

this doesnt work anymore, the layout is different as other people have mentioned. Now after you go into crop and select 1:1 there are no options to "fill" so it just crops the image exactly as instagram would... :(

Don't see the "fit" option in the app so that the image doesn't get cropped when fitting into a certain ratio!

Nice tool... for a second I thought my problem was fixed, but, of course, you have to pay to remove that huge watermark the photo comes with. Not saying you are wrong to charge to have it removed, this is a business after all, but you might've mentioned before I did the photo editing.

Just so you know, the Fit option is not a available in the free option anymore.

Seemed like it would work but unfortunately, what you show on your video isn't the interface I see with my Samsung Galaxy S10. There's no option to fit the image into the 1:1 dimension.

Conclusion: Instagram is total shit since it cannot do such a simple thing as posting photos without chopping

There is no done button anywhere on my screen. Stupid Instagram I swear ...shouldn’t save to go to these extremes

i still am questioning why instagram is cropping the pictures when uploading multiple. from a it programmer view, its total bs. someone was just too lazy to make it work in the code. there are way more questionable things that bug the sh*t out of me when using it. still cant believe why it has gotten such a broad audience.

You still have the bar up and down, left and right. If so, what's the diff than screenshot the photos first? 🤔🤔🤔

It works if you just take a screenshot of the photo you want to fit and then add the screenshotted pic by clicking the plus button at the end of the picture collection

Won't you lose a bit of quality by doing the download method?
