What’s happening in this movie clip?
Vada (Anna Chlumsky) is talking to her best friend Thomas J. Sennett (Macaulay Culkin) under a tree about the fact that she wants to get married to her teacher (Griffin Dunne) and Thomas explains why it’s against the law. They end up kissing each other to see why people do it.

What’s the movie about?
Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) is a morbid little girl, making it hard for her to make friends. While most kids her age think she’s weird, Thomas J. Sennett (Macaulay Culkin) thinks she’s wonderful and is her best friend.

Even though this part of the film is very sad, the rest of the movie is a really lovely feel good movie. It’s actually very therapeutic and it helps with healing traumatic memories. Xx

No other film has had such a big impact on my psyche as this one. This was my first dramatic romantic movie that I watched, when I was 8 years old in 1992. I remember that I spent 1 month just thinking about the movie, traumatized. 😅

That kiss was so good he had nothing to say but the pledge of allegiance! He should have never died! Thomas J and Veda were suppose to be married!

I think what's also really sad about this scene when Thomas J asks Vada if she'll think of him was that this was the moment we see Thomas J grow up. He starts to develop feelings for Vada even though before this scene, he acted like romance was gross. But after that kiss, it helped him grow up a little which gave him the courage to find that ring.

My sister and I were totally traumatized when the poor little kid died ! We've always been afraid of insects (I'm 22 and I still am) so it made it even more scary :( but that was a beautiful movie, it's just that this scene was so sad.
