7 Year Update on My Blue Tongue Skink!

I purchased my second lizard, Olive, in the Summer of 2015 when I was a wee boy. She had the honor of enduring my questionable care and rising of my YouTube channel over the years with features in many videos. While the circumstances in which I acquired her were less than ideal, I can't say I regret getting her.

I bought my Irian Jaya(Fluffy) from you around 2 years ago she has that scale thing, sneezes a lot, chirps for greeting, and is generally the best lizard ever.

Sneezing in blue tongues is common because they use it to clear debris from their nostrils after burrowing. It could be that the carpet fibers tickle her nose and she sneezes from that. My skink will sneeze after she burrows and it's the cutest thing ever! I've had her for 5 months and she is my Depression Lizard, totally worth it.

Much love to Olive, I hope she is finding joy in her captive life.

Alex, I really am finding myself giggling. I know you deeply care for all the animals that come into your life. I just love your dead pan delivery of commentary. Thank you for good video, love you little dude.

Petco looks to be getting slightly better about their reptile care these days. I went there earlier this week to buy mice for my snake and noticed that they had two different enclosures for the baby bearded dragons and both were there largest enclosure size. The top one had only 2 baby bearded dragons and both had their own spot to bask (or at least they were attempting to bask on them as I couldn't see the light setup) and the other one just housed a single bearded dragon.

The basking spots were too low down compared to the top of the enclosures but at least they weren't putting too many in one enclosure. Also they gave a bowl of those tiny worm/ larvea things that are like a cm long and a bowl of fruit/ vegetable mush

She's very pretty, if a little stunted. By the way, how about another update on Bonabel? Savannah monitors are one of my favorite lizards.

Hey now, as an owner of a local exotic pet store, I take pride in how our animals are presented and cared for. Setting an example for the community is incredibly important and we make sure the supplies they get is correct before they leave the store with the animal. Some of our animals are wild caught. I'm not going to pretend they're not. But we still try to keep them in as close to what they should go home with. All we can do is try our best and work on producing our own captive bred options as time goes on.

7:52 It's funny that you say she doesn't know her name, my blue tongue skink knows her name and will come over when called. Even if she does just think she's going to get food out of it. They're one of the easier lizards to train I think if you don't count monitors.

There's a local pet store here that got mad at me for leaving a bad review after seeing a tegu literally cooking in its enclosure. They tried to blame me saying I should have gone to a manager, but their employees literally didn't care lmao

I bought my Indonesian blue tongue skink 1 month ago as a baby I have it in a cage big enough for an adult and it is doing amazing! I have it on cypress mulch and it burrows effortlessly as long as it’s not all packed down. I would definitely recommend keeping the hide in though because he uses it as much as he burrows.

60% horse 20% human 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 my bts sneezes ALOT, i personally just think its from the burrowing and shes just cleaning out her nose. Never had a R.I and always been in top health 👌

The only exotic pet stores I’ve been to have felt super predatory, like they want you to not know a lot so they can convince you to buy more/things you don’t need

Currently bingeing your channel to try to help with helping you get back to normal. It’s really cool to see how your channel has adapted to your life & your changes in hobbies. I’m really glad you still upload on this channel even though you aren’t so reptile based anymore

I have a an Eastern blue tongue skink, I got her as a baby and she's 13 years old this year. She is a bit of a princess with regards to food, will only eat snails, banana and sometimes mushrooms and broccoli and just refuses to eat if she doesn't like it. We let her free range the house although she has a large tank which she only uses for basking. She likes to climb up the sofa and crawl into my pocket when I'm on the computer. She was named 'Lizzie' by my kids (yeah, I know its lame) and is also quite sneezy, but she is often crawling through dust bunnies on the floor so that is probably why. She seems quite smart for a lizard.

For the sneezing I have a Peter banded skink. Very similar, but she also sneezes. A LOT. It’s very audible too haha.
