Yes, the public finances are so bad now, let's spend billions to make public services WORSE than they are now.
Austerity was only ever necessary because the Labour party left the country virtuallly bankrupt.
Yes the Tories made a total hash of managing the Plannedemic but they actually had the support of Labour for most of it.
Had the UK followed Sweden's lead, the finances would be a LOT better off right now.

Yeah, investing money you don't have in the "hope" of greater returns.
i.e. gambling.
Still, if it doesn't work, you can always invent some new tax scams.
