I agree with most of it, but the new car one is not totally true imo.
There are some high quality long lasting cars that you can buy new and keep for 15+ years.
It's not worth buying then used because they almost don't loose value over years, and since you are the first and only owner, you can be sure it has been well maintained.
(won't name the brand/type, but we all know who)
