If you lose your key while you’re out, just ask for a “new key” at the desk as opposed to a copy. When the new key is swiped it will deactivate all the old keys including emulated ones.

For everyone talking about criminal uses for the flipper, you've got to have direct access to the key. It also depends on the key itself, newer hotels do not have this issue, this must be an older key format.

As a person who travels for work and stays in hotel rooms all the time, thank you for advertising this gadget. The germs, bugs, and possible hidden cameras weren't worrying me enough.

Dude: actively spreads awareness of the cyber security threats
Also dude: shows the entire Internet what these tools can do

An attacker had to already have physical access to your key. Dont leave your key unattended. This attack is not new but the flipper can do it in a cool and compact package.

You can also copy your own key so you have a backup if you lose your hotel key.

As someone who used to do a lot of travel and hotel staying with several thousand dollars worth of equipment, I learned two things. Always lock your saftey latch, and always carry.

Security is one of those few cases where an old, analog lock performs way better than anything digital.

They talked about this device in great detail on a cyber podcast. They said that it's radio signal manipulation in a new shiny plastic box. Radio signal manipulation is nothing new to cyber Security but the plastic box and interface buttons are gaining popularity.
