In this video podcast I am going to break down a new download that we put together for our listeners and friends. This one is on the gods and goddesses of Asatru. while not totally a complete set of references it is a good, quick look at the major attributes of some of the more widely known deities of our faith. Every attempt has been made to adhere to the most commonly accepted information, however sometimes those attributes can be topics for much, heated debate. This is not intended to be a replacement for your own research, nor is it intended to challenge any of your own beliefs or UPG's. I offer this work free of charge, along with others in this series for those that are seeing to learn and grow their personal pagan / heathen practice. þórr viki.

The leaflet is great for beginners, especially combined with the privious "The case in favor of Asatru ritual" video and your "Getting started with Asatru" series. I recommend them often.

The music is my pleasure, Goði. The least I could do really, giving something back for all that you and Gyðja provide. Thank you for the shout out.

Loved this podcast episode, good work! One thing that interests me is Freyja and Frigga. I read the Lokesanna a while back and noticed he did address them separately, but up until that point I always believed them to be the same deity, I just thought she was called by a different name, so I got some clarification on that.
I’m also working with Freyja as well, as one of my patrons. My personal Patron GOD is Thor, simply because he’s the god of the common folk, and I look up to him to give me strength when I need it.
There’s a LOT of good information in this video, and I’m sure the information you shared will definitely help those out who are just starting on this path, or haven’t been studying very long. Great work as always Göthi Bödvarr!

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for these videos- for sharing the information, but above all, for the way you carry yourself in such a compassionate and thoughtful manner. I am fairly new to the path, having considered myself a witch at first and then diving into actual paganism more seriously in the past year or so, and your videos are such a gift. I have OCD, and I suspect of my subtypes is religious OCD, because I am terrified of doing things “wrong”, of upsetting the gods, of disrespecting other pagans or ancient practices by doing things my own way, etc. Your videos are so validating when you explain how you do things, then encourage us to use it as a blueprint, to adjust things as feel right to us, and when you state the ritual blueprint can be used for all kinds of gods, too (I mainly worship Norse gods, but I worship Thoth and Belenos as well). As someone navigating many pagan resources, there is a sea of people saying I must do things the way the ancients did or I’m being disrespectful, I can’t make things up or go off my gut feelings, I have to be super serious all the time, the gods are powerful and this means they must be feared, I can’t mix pantheons, and a million other things. It is hard to wade through and really hard to cope with, especially because of my OCD. But your channel is so safe. You’re always so flexible and accepting of peoples’ different paths. I feel much better about learning the history, but also doing things slightly my own way, because of you. I also feel much better about my relationships with the gods; I do view them as a family of sorts, and got worried I was “wrong” for feeling that way and being lighthearted sometimes. Your videos are a wealth of knowledge and also like a big hug for someone trying to follow this path while navigating mental illness.

As a side note, I also consider Tyr my patron god 🫶 I don’t fight battles in the typical way (thank you for your service!) but I do find following his just path helps me navigate my own personal battles and also advocate for others as well. He is a god I admire extremely deeply, and I hope to continue moving forward in a way that would make him proud.

Sorry for the long message! I just hope you know how meaningful what you do is for me and so many others!

Awesome video, thanks for the flyer! I've got all of them, need to get a printer, and infiltrate some churches hahaha. Nah, I do have people who ask about it and these are perfect to hand out to people, especially if I'm a bit busy. I look at Ukko from Finnish Mythology and Thor as the same. When I was reading about both gods they seemed very similar, then reading some books and seeing him referenced as Oku-Thor. I can't help but see them as the same deity, I'm getting an Ukonvasara (Ukko's hammer) in March.

A good rule of thumb to know if a figure is worthy of worship is what is their relationship to the gods, men and the world in general. If they support the Gods, and humanity and seek to better the world as their primary motivation, chances are that they are worthy of worship. If their primary role is destruction of the Gods, humanity and the world, they are not worthy of worship. The pantheon is wide and pretty inclusive and includes Gods, heroes, landwights, ancestors and all others who support the Community. There is no reason to venerate in any way a creature that does not support our existence. This is how there are some giants in the pantheon. In Skadhi's case, for instance, she took the betrothal vow to support her husband(Njordr) and in so doing became an Aesir. The vow or oath becomes the binding agent for strong community and helps build community, keep folks honest and generally gets things done.

I suppose this is a nice “intro” for beginners, but any Heathens looking for some real in-depth facts and research on the Gods should check out the Ancient Aliens Season 5 episode “The Viking Gods”! (sarcasm)
