Our researchers partnered with UNC Chapel Hill to successfully convert carbon monoxide to methanol. This reaction could be part of a larger strategy for converting harmful carbon dioxide to useful liquid fuel.

This seems like an interesting idea to get more energy depending on the EROI but don't you release the emissions when you create and use the fuel?
