Thanks for this great video! I read Lonesome Dove two years ago now and I was on the verge of tears just listening to you mention Gus. Still feels so immediate and close and real. Definitely one of the greatest reads and reading experiences of my life. I usually read female authors and prefer to read about women. I have no interest in Westerns or America. None of this matters. One of the greatest of all time!

I appreciate your comments about the Native American portrayal. I read this book with my wife who is Native American, and she expressed this as well. That being said we both loved this book. It’s just one of those things you have to put into context.
