"Would you give everything to the woman you're with? Cause I love your grandmother so much I gave her everything". Rest in Peace Grandpa 50.

That was my grandfather, my grandmother never worked a job cause he told her her job was to take care of the kids and home and this is why he worked a job. He would come in and hand over his check and get pocket money for work. My grandmother paid the bills, took care of my mom, aunt and uncles as well as from time to time they would have other family members living with them. They were the example that I always wanted my life to be, they were married for 57 years until my grandfather passed. My grandmother lived 13 years after and she grieved every day. They loved each other took care of each other, when he rocked she rolled. I miss them so much but they are together as they should be. ❤

Can't get more real than that. Bring back black families with these morals.

Those were different times, different women.. You would be a fool to hand over your whole check now.

This is exactly what my dad did too. He was also a Vietnam vet and the v.a. didn't help my father with anything and he struggled until the day he died. But my father did whatever he had to do to make sure my mom, myself and two brothers had everything we needed. It wasn't anything fancy but we had a roof over our heads, clothes and food in our bellies. I just wish I would've realized sooner how hard my father worked to provide for us. My mom constantly complained about my father not being able to get her a house, or the newest car (despite her not ever learning how to drive), and at least once a week, she would say how she should've married her ex bf who was a millionaire. It's like, do you not see how little our fathers checks are? And he still gives you every penny! And she refused to ever get a job even when we were old enough to be at home by ourselves, she would always say well I'm a mom, that's my job. Even though she was not maternal at all and even cheated on my father with a friend of his while he was at work but that didn't last long because we told our father within a few weeks. My dad got into an altercation with the guy and he never came back to pick my mother up again. She was so mad about that for the longest. I struggled to maintain a relationship with her and I haven't talked to her since 2015 which was around the time my father died from lung cancer. I did try to reach out in 2023 but she never answered my calls or called me back. So, I've chosen to just let it go. God knows I tried though and that's all that matters. 💜

That’s how ole skool was. My grandparents were the same. Granddaddy worked and brought the check home to grandma who made sure everything was paid!! She made all the food and sent granddaddy to work with major lunch and had wonderful holidays for the family, AND sent child support to the child my granddad had before they were married!!! Because Granddaddy worked for Chrysler, they had a new car every 2 years. As a child, I thought they were rich❤❤❤❤❤❤
