I'm always perplexed by musicians who solo but don't improvise, including playing somebody's famous solo note for note.  I don't see the point in doing this in the context of jazz, blues or any style where improvisation is an essential aspect of the music.  This is really great advice provided by Bruce Forman for all musicians, not just jazz players.  Say something!

Whoa... not at all familiar with Bruce's typical gear setup but based on the Guitarwank podcast, I didn't expect to hear him using that Rosenwinkle'esque "slow-gear" effect.
