A seriously under-rated song. Great vocals.

One of the things I love from this song (along with the great harmonies and lyrics) is the fact that George is playing an E Maj7 while John is playing a regular E Major. I knew I could hear that Major 7th in there!
Also, when they sing « don’t you know that it’s so » I thought I could hear a G#7 in there….am I imagining that one? 🤔
Great job again, Mike.😊
Love the Beatles ❤

I've listened to the Beatles for decades, and while I appreciate their later work, the early guitar-driven songs like this are the ones I keep coming back to. Great lesson as usual!

Now I know why this song had a special feel to it, it’s all the subtle parts that quite frankly most guitarists wouldn’t come up with but a kid of 20 did! you’ve laid the secret bare again Mike..brilliant work 😎🎸💙

Mike, one of my ALL-TIME favorite Beatles songs! I grew up listening and enjoying the early records more than the later stuff! Thanks for another great breakdown! Greetings from hot Southern California!

Love this Lennon's resonant voice on those early albums is sublime

Mike said he was surprised by how many folks have never heard this song. That would be true in America as it came out on some minor record label. In Britain and the rest of the world it appeared on their first EMI/ Parlephone LP which was heard by millions.

At Easter 1964 my sister and I begged for a Beatles record from our dubious parents. Dad (a high school music teacher) scoffed and said they’d be forgotten in six months. So we said we’d want something to remember them by! Ha!! This was my first record of any sort. I was nine st the time. The Tollie 45 with Twist & Shout b/w There’s a Place was our choice. My sister and I played the record to death on our portable record player. She and her friend played the A side over and over, jumping and screaming on her bed. But I preferred There’s a Place. Already something of a introspective dreamer, I guess. 7:28
