How to Take Better Street Photos - Work the Scene

We have a new video up for your enjoyment! We know, we know, it's been a long time coming but we finally have more online video tutorials on the way. This first video is an excerpt, so to speak, from our Streets of Tokyo street photography workshop. In this case, we learn how to 'work the scene,' which is all about going beyond the initial shot and searching for something deeper.

In this video tutorial we explain camera settings, but go beyond that by contextualizing them in the urban environment. Our goal is to explain the what, the how, and the why of the shot. We hope you'll take these ideas with you and apply them in your own street photography!

Finally, a channel where they get into the settings and clear up the mystery behind how to GET the shot. (Not just gear, specs and locations.) After a while it just becomes intuitive, but for beginning photographers it can be a frustrating mystery. And for older photographers like myself, we just get so stuck in our ways and need a little a refresher on whats possible.

As a late bloomer to photography, this is hands down the most underrated channel on YouTube! Clear, concise and informative. I’m so grateful for your teachings

Great video as always. I would love to see your process when you work the scene through your viewfinder. I've been looking at some of Nick Turpin's videos and I was honestly captivated by his Italy POV shoot. It really crystalized for me as a beginner how to work the scene. Hope to see a video like that from you some day too, although i love how Axel shoots your videos. Keep up the great work and thanks for being such a great teacher.

Great video Lukasz! I absolutely loved it. I do have one question, how do you get shots of people without offending them? Some people are shy, some people don't like being photographed by strangers. This is one thing that is keeping me from trying street photography.

That is so cool ... I won't practice, but just watching the videos is so interesting, thanks for sharing !

Although I think it would be great to give the exact location of the spot, maybe that's not your policy idk, but that's the only thing that's missing imo

Edit : I actually found it : 35°39'33.6"N 139°41'54.6"E

How about for cheap cameras? Like semi profesional.
Lumix FZ80, Canon S5 is, and the like?
