lol...ok ok you complained and I changed the title, 20+ years is vintage, 9 years old is not...fine you win ;) I didn't put as much energy into making the title as you did your comments about it...

I have the large version and it came as part of an SOG holiday set with a tomahawk and a folding shovel. I had mostly set it aside as a backup knife. I lost my go-to knife so I busted this one out. It's a lot less chincy than I expected and the clip is convenient.
Mine reads Auto Clip pat. pend on the clip itself and instead of SOG specialty knives on the reverse side, in the same location on the handle it simply reads SOG.

I lost mine back around 6 or 7 years ago, great knife and I enjoyed the adjustable thumb stud

Man making me feel old calling these vintage lmao

SOGs are not my favorite designs in general, but every knife of theirs I've had has had a wicked factory edge, much sharper than some other knives I've had out of box.

Got mine in 2000. Mine (large) never came with a spring. It had a moulded plastic captive wheel located over a threaded plastic bar. This arrangement lasted about a year before it snapped. The spring system seems much more robust. Also mine never came with a thumb stud

I just found the larger knife, brand new, dumpster diving! My neighbor informed me somebody moved out of the complex and threw out a bunch of stuff. Got some new Nike basketball shoes, hey dudes, a bunch of fishing lures still in its packaging, unopened hunting scents, Cabela's bags etc. Somebody must've broke up w their boyfriend and wanted to hurt his feelings! 🤣...I love knives and especially a good pocket clip knife. The adjustable thumb stud is cool for my small woman hands. I can't easily unlock it w one hand without pushing the blade against my belly, which I dont really like, but can't complain for the low low price of Free Ninety Free! 🥰

Crazy how different knives were only 9-10 years ago.

the midsize was my first "actual" knife probably circa year 2000 given to me by my dad...it was my edc through all of middleschool and into highschool...not sure whatever happened to it...i found the steel to be pretty soft in retrospect and wouldn't hold a great edge...I wish I still had it just for nostalgia. edit mine had the wheel ontop too, no thumbstud

Good call, what's the fun in having them sealed up? As long as you don't cut up an old carpet or something, they should not drop in value drastically.

I wonder what model I have... mine does not have that spring tensioner for the clip, but instead a wheel you turn and it moves the gap of the pocket clip.
I snagged this knife from my grandfathers office almost 15 years ago when he died, I use it almost daily. My thumb stud is also missing since I got it, but that never bothered me.

This isn't directly related to the video but I know you like cool old knives and a company called Asheville Steel which is the company behind paragon knives recently bought a warehouse which was the producer of Masters of Defense in the late 90s and early 2000s and they found a bunch of original stock and have assembled them for sale. Check out their youtube and their website if you are interested. Very cool knife history available for sale right now.
