You don't need the red record button for video, you can use the mode selector and turn it to movie. Now you can start the video with the shutter button.

John, If you happen to hear any news on the upcoming model for the FZ2500 which maybe called the FZ2500 II or the FZ2500M2 as they have done with the FZ1000 model, please let all your viewers know. Again, I am almost ready to pull the trigger on purchasing this model but since I think I am so close to the new release, I'm reluctantly willing to wait for the new model. I know chasing technology is an endless task, but at least I may feel good for 2-3 years before the next upgrade.

I love upgrades. I worked in IT before retiring and loved to make existing programs run either better or faster than they did before the upgrade. In my 35 years, I only regretted one upgrade I did, but got it patched 1 hr after the release and all was well or in my view - better than before the new release.

Thank you John. I'm 67 and retired one year ago. About to retire my 10 year old Panasonic FZ28 and am looking for a replacement. The Sony RXIV is about as close as I can find to this camera and am almost ready to pull the trigger on it, but think I will will wait for the Upgrade to the FZ2500 as we are 3 years into the model before I make my final decisions.

I just read all the comments to your video and filtered out the negative comments about not knowing you could do this or that and chalked that up to learning experience. I just bought a new riding mower and am still learning as I go. In fact I'm giving away my old FZ28 camera and learned some new things about it after owning it for 10 years, so shame on me, but at least I recognize I still have things to learn at my age.

So, I'm still waiting on the new FZ2500 newer version, but think the current version would make me very happy. Any tweaks they make to it, would be noting but pure gravy to me. I put aside the money needed to purchase it from my "After Retirement Bonus" I received from my old company. I'm pretty excited and hope they release the newer version soon. I can hardly wait. It will be such a joy.

I thank you for making this video. I mostly pictures, but I edit mostly video. I would be so glad to edit something this good vs doing old archaic video restoration projects which usually take 4 hours for 10 minutes on the timeline., I would like to change that to 1 minute on the timeline for a 10 minute clip. I'm getting older and time counts more for me than the millennial's.

God is Blessing you John. More than you know - Kitt Prible

If you shoot in movie mode you can use the regular shutter button to start and stop your video. You also forgot to mention that unlike the sony, panasonic has a touch screen.

Good critical view! John, use the shutter button for record videos. You are right, the display is one of the important things at this camera, especially when shooting macros on the ground. What is really missing on this camera is 4K 50 / 60fps. With all the other things you can live ;-)

Well done video, especially since many people do not have access to a real camera shop to touch/feel and handle the different models. I'm big on ergonomics, button layout, and how the camera feels in hand and you covered it well.

Just on the way he holds the cam you clearly can see he ain't a pro photographer. I have this model and I can tell you.. You gonna use that flip screen a lot

Thanks for the video really appreciate it. I got a battery coupler and a power bank that basically puts? A dummy. Battery? In and then you can use like a d c power bank u s b to power the camera for several hours without batteries

Got to agree on the screen. I like the Panasonic flip out and twist style.
It's a big reason I didn't buy the A6000. I like to turn my screen round and throw the camera in my bag
I don't want to have the opportunity of scratching it.

I think a little more homework and research is in order . You most certainly can use the shutter button for starting/stopping video .

Hello and thank you for your presentation of the LUMIX FZ 2500.
I just bought this camera and made the same reflection as you: Too bad there is not a Grip to put 2 batteries.
And then I realized that the battery of the FZ 2500 (DMW-BLC12E) is the same as on the GH2. Now, there are Battery Grip for the GH2. Do you think they can be used with the FZ 2500?

Thank you for your answer and your future films and advice.
David.

The record button is no problem for me - probably because I'm already used to it. Spending the first 4+ minutes complaining about it is, I think, a little bit obsessive. Now, I think you have every right to bring this up for those it might find this an issue. And, by the way, you can use AC power with an adapter you can buy through Panasonic's website.

your gripe about video record button is senseless, because it is placed with a lot of thought

AX33 or Lumix FZ2500 for Interview Videos with Fast Focus ?

NOT 1" sensor - the blurb evidently written by a fisherman who did not read the specs - Sony calls it 1-type. About 0.642".

Just remember this is a bridge camera, treat it as such and you cant beat it.

Thanks for the great video, you sound like a New Yorker. I have a question about the sensor size, it's advertised that the 2500 has a 1" sensor. The actual dimension of  the sensor is 13.2mm X 8.8mm. and there is 25mm in an inch. And if they add the L plus W it equals to 22mm and not 25mm.  My Sony R1 Bridge camera is 12 years old and the sensor size is 21.5mm X 14.4mm which equals to 35.9mm. This means that my 12 yr. old Sony's sensor is about 60% larger than the FZ 2500 sensor.  So my point is, all this hype about the 2500's sensor size is really no big deal, sounds like it's an advertising gimmick.  What are your thoughts about this???

Might just be me but never had a hand strap and probably never will.
It's a non issue for me personally
