Imagine going camping for a week....you're tired, wet, cold, your gear is all damp and muddy, and you can't wait to get home, take a hot shower, do some laundry, and just veg out on the couch and watch Prime Video, and maybe order some DoorDash....and then imagine you're Shawn, the camping trip never ends, and every bit of comfort you need to build yourself, bit by bit, out in the cold rain. Dear god, please let this man enjoy his life story as much as I do! You are the Charlie Brown of Off Grid with nature and poverty being the Lucy holding your football, pretending that this is the time that she will let you kick it. I don’t think you have any idea of how good you are at this. The ending, which I will not spoil for others, made me so happy to see. There was something John Steinbeck or Farley Mowat about it. The road, the river, the rail, less travelled… It is better to be uncomfortable in a life that you love, than comfortable in a life that you hate. You are an outlier, giving other outliers hope!
