The university reportedly tried to have a dialogue with the protesters and asked them to leave but no progress was reportedly made.

The students weren’t worried about being arrested. They were more worried about their parents cutting them off financially if they got expelled. At least I hope that’s the case. I’ve seen students expelled at Fordham for less.
