RNA as Genetic Material

Viruses which do not have DNA, and in which RNA act as a genetic material are called Retro Virus.

The first evidence that RNA also has the capacity to carry genetic information came from experiments conducted with tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). This virusdon't contain any DNA, and is composed of RNA (6%) surrounded by a hollow cylinder of protein subunits. The experiments conducted by H.Fraenkel-Conrat in California showing that RNA as genetic material. They separated TMV particles into RNA and proteins. Later by using RNA and proteins separately in tests for infectivity, it could be shown that RNA alone was able to cause infection.

Thank you for explaining so well. So due to the proces of reverse transcription, the RNA of the retro virus creates DNA in the cell of the host to help it reproduce, right?
Do all the cells of the host that have been infected die off? Or are some left alive after the infection has passed with this DNA material left behind by the RNA of the virus?

2) all RNA viruses are not retrovirus.

Retrovirus is an RNA virus which transforms a copy of DNA into the host cell
