Eating a "Mettbrötchen" without a ton of chopped onions, salt and pepper is insulting!

How can someone eat that ... without any raw, diced onion on top?

Pathetic!

German here. While I generally wouldn't reject a Mettbrötchen, I'd yet be a bit reluctant in this case - if it really had been in this not cooled plastic box for hours. But maybe I'd dtill eat it, if the smell was okay.

American here, at first it seemed odd when i lived in Berlin. Now, back in the US, I would kill for a Mettwuerst Brotchen.

"Eww I'm not eating raw food"

"Ooh Sushi! Yum!!!"

Wenn man Mettwurst schön auf einen Teller anrichten und behauptet, es sei französisches Tatar, würden alle sagen, dass es ein feines Gericht ist.

American here and I’m sticking with the American on this one!

If it has been warm in the Tupperware container for several hours, it could already be spoiled. As soon as "Mett" gets warm, you should eat it within half an hour. Otherwise the bacteria will do it.

Swede here. Mettbrötchen, bread with "hakepeter" is one of Germanys best culinary innovation. It is like German sushi! Delicious!

I know how Americans eat their steak. They are the last people allowed to complain about something being raw! 😂

I am from India, When I was living in Northern Germany, there was a bakery where I used to get my breakfast, and mettbrochen was all I ate for months. Eventually I fell in love with it, I miss it 😀.

Minced meat with onion and vegies on top of bread goes so well. We also eat it in central asia

Us Dutchies have something similar we call it 'filet Americain' (don't ask me why we call it that, I have no idea 😂) it's basically raw beef with spices and tomato paste.
We usually eat it with salt, pepper and diced raw onions on bread, toast or crackers. 👌

We have similar one in Slovakia, also done in Czechia too...in Poland as well😂
Probably Central European cuisine 😂

My husband discovered this year Mettwurst (we go very often in Germany for holiday) and he's absolutely in love with it.

"Mettwurst" is not the same as "Mett". The actual Mettbrötchen and Mettigel are not made from Mettwurst. If you call Mettwurst "raw", then Salami is also "raw".

It never occured to me that Mett could be seen as weird anywhere else, until I found out here a while ago 😂
