The best unexpected sports photography accessories!

If you cover sports as a photographer, there are a few accessories you may not find suggested on many photography websites that are incredibly useful to have in your bag! This video will show you five of them.

HANDWARMERS
This is an affiliate link to the brand of hand warmer I use from Amazon, but plenty of others are available. Here in the UK, many supermarkets carry these "Hot Hands" packs for just a couple of pounds and Boots currently have 2 packs for £1, while in the US I have recently (January 2025) seen them sold individually in CVS for around a dollar each.

Was on a film shoot only last week and had to use a couple of those hand warmers. So good when you need them (I was stuck outside in the cold minding the lights for hours)
I have a broad rimmed hat rather than a baseball cap or sun visor. I like when the brim of the hat is less rigid (so I don't hit it off the back of the camera as I put it to my face), plus it keeps the sun off my ears and back of my neck.
Can't actually think of anything useful right now.

This time of year I've always got an rechargable hand warmer/battery bank in the bag. Definitely needed last night at a match, bloody freezing

I don't use paper towel, I use Kimtech Delicate Task Wipes. A little pricey but they don't fall apart and leaves tissue fibres behind. They are used in the laboratory industry to dry glassware.

Chamois leathers of various sizes I rather use than paper towels which break up in your camera bag and bits of paper everywhere
