The Summer Book by Tove Jansson

I read Tove Jansson’s Moomins books to my kids when they were young and they loved them. As did I. The Summer Book is probably the best known of her novels for adults. Set on a small island in the Gulf of Finland, it creates a marvellous, sumptuous atmosphere.But as a ‘novel’ there was something lacking for me.
