I'm kinda surprised the Amityville house didn't make the list. A gruesome murder took place at the house and it became a famous haunted house after that. The new residents lived there only about a month. It also became the subject of a very well known book and numerous movies

I have toured Glensheen Mansion (#7), walking through that place is creepy. You definitely can feel a strange atmosphere when inside.

My husband and I spent 3 days and nights at Lizzie Borden's in 2006. We stayed in the room where Abby wss murdered. I have always been fascinated by this case. The staff was great, and it was spooky. We were the only people staying there, and had free run of the house, except I could only go into the basement with the owner. I took loads of pictures and had ghost hunting equipment with me. I had soooo much fun and a couple things did happen. The historical society, in town, has items from the crime, such as Abby's braid, that was hacked off her head, and an axe found in the house. I would go back in a heartbeat. Recently, Lizzie's lawyer's grandson died, and they found letters in his home from Lizzie to her lawyer. So the case remains unsolved, and remains very interesting. It was the OJ trial of the time, meaning it was a huge circus. At that time, no one thought a woman was capable of such a crime. Who knows. This crime put Fall River, Mass. on the map.

I’ve been to Glensheen Mansion and it is a beautiful, the creepy thing was that when I went in one of the rooms (which was still beautiful) I got extreme chills. Later I found out, that was the room where she was murdered in....The reason I didn’t know about this was because now a days they don’t talk about the murder because the people who work there don’t want people to just know of the place as a place where someone got murdered.

I lived down the street from Fox Hollow Farm when I was younger. My parents both grew up in Indiana and one of their close friends was killed by Herb before I was born. :( it was really sad to learn about when I got older. I was forbidden to walk by the farm even after Herb was caught. It's weird to be that close to a site used for murder. I'm glad I moved.

I’d just like to correct the Glensheen story. Elizabeth was actually smothered to death with her pillow, and her night nurse, who was coming up the staircase towards Elizabeth’s room, was pushed down the stairs and then bludgeoned to death with a candle stick.

Such a shame that the Amityville horror house is not on this list

It's not so much the potential ghost activity, but the thought of somebody struggling in their final moments of life, bleeding out, being brutally bludgeoned by an axe every time I walk over that particular spot. That's where they're thoughts turned to complete despair. that's where they breathed their last breath. I would constantly imagine how it played out down to the scream and how undignified and blood-curdling it would sound. I couldn't live in one of those regardless of how dirt-cheap the asking price is.
