Utah needs to preserve more water! Makes no sense to have yards of green lawn!!

I hope for more to come. It would be great to see that lake rise up another 3-5 feet.

In 1984 I drove through there and all I could see was roof tops of pavilions along side of the lake the water was so high .

Cox gave a speech, saying there's no problem, we just need to keep doing what we're doing, getting lucky with rainstorms

We still know it's because of the farmers causing the low lake levels. It's doesn't matter if the mountains have more snow because the alfalfa Farmers are going to take it anyway. The problem isn't solved.

I was blessed to travel to the great salt lake in the late 80's when it was almost flooding, a beautiful, almost spiritual body of water. Everyone should take a trip to see it and salt lake city. When I and my girlfriend were there we also visited the temple square, something to see also, the Mormon people there were bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. A trip I will never forget.

Don't think you'll be "rescued" every year.

So literally every snow plow on the streets should be dumping near the lake so the runoff can melt and fill the lake 🤔🤔🤔🤔

The Great Salt Lake is a remnant of the Pleistocene, a time of significantly more precipitation in the west. It is one of many lakes that once covered the Great Basin. As we continue to move out into this interglacial period this lake will very likely continue to shrink in size and eventually be gone, as the others have. This will take decades/centuries, but that is the trend.

All the water that would normally flow into the gsl is going to be captured in all the reservoirs before any excess will go to the gsl. If all that water held in the upper lakes would be released the lake would be full.

The faster the city has grown the faster the lake deteriorated along with anywhere near the city The air is horrible there

The lake, which has been drying up for the last 30, 000 years must NOW stay stable, because modern human experience trumps actual nature...

Have the Bangerter pumps turned off. That would make an enormous difference!!

To think in the mid 1980s they were building a huge project to pump water out into the desert to lower the lake levels!
