Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Meet Global South exhibition in the southern city of Kaohsiung.

This show is for showcasing tech opportunities and companies relating to Taiwan's southern regions.

In this vlog, I want to report on my experiences at the show, a few highlights, and some of the challenges southern Taiwan’s tech scene faces in the future.

It's cool to see the vitality of Taiwanese tech companies. Still so many amazing inventions and startups. I'd love to go see it for myself some day

3:33 Can't help myself but laugh when you say that you "watched the lady demonstrated for a while" 😏😂.
The demonstration certainly looks interesting, and maybe useful in this era that is full of remote conferencing.

Love your insights. Taiwan startups need to be self aware of what makes Taiwan market leaders successful such as TSMC, HongHai Foxconn. It's a dichotomy of being accessible to global client demands and organizing the historic skillsets Taiwan technical/education has aligned towards in developing quality workforce.

Imagine an oven that can scan your food as it cooks to heat it exactly to your specifications especially in restaurants. Or microwave ovens that can intelligently direct the generated radiation to prevent cold spots or that thing where it burns on the outside but is still frozen in the middle. Food prep devices that can detect pathogens like salmonella or just prevent those new or inexperienced at cooking from burning their attempts.

I believe technology transfer organizations like ITRI are present in many Asian countries. However, it is always hard to convince MNCs to license their technologies. The "not invented here syndrome" is alive and well in Asia like in many parts of the world. It may explain why startups may be a better option for these technology transfer setups provided the venture funding scene in the countries are well developed.

Replace "__ is no gateway for technology companies" with Hong Kong ... that's much better!

(At least Taiwan has raised and invested into TSMC and has a track record of producing quality technically-capable workforce!)

In modern globalised world, giants in different sectors dominant the industrial world. In oder to survive and achieve success, startups need the support of massive domestic market. That is why the most successful Startups we have seen in the last 20 years almost all come from countries like USA, China and India. I don't think the startups in Taiwan have a chance, unless they can use China as their domestic market.

Man, you don't know the language in your hometown? At least get an App to translate.
The biotech is doing much better in the USA, in part thanks to the federal investment in research (NIH, NSF, DOE, DOD, ...) imho.
Really good contents in your channel. Keep up good work!
