El punto del duelo fue ver quién podía hacer mejor música, ya que desde el punto de vista de David la música no vale la pena si es disonante y no respeta un patrón, mientras que Gary piensa que la música debe ser libre y disonante.
En un inicio vemos cómo David ataca a Gary con una serie de notas que escalan con ritmo. Gary responde con una melodía improvisada que repite muy pocas veces las mismas notas.
Entonces llegamos al punto máximo del enfrentamiento, dónde ambas melodías supuestamente deberían enfrentarse.
Pero para sorpresa de David, en lugar de enfrentarse Gary hace que sus melodías se combinen para finalmente cerrar con su disonancia.
En otras palabras, Gary mediante una melodía disonante logro controlar y absorber una melodía armoniosa, creando así una melodía perfecta.
David impactado ante está verdad revelada no puede decir nada más que " Te agradezco"

As a music nerd the reason Gary won was variety and creativity. While David used more of a simplistic melody Gary's melody had a little bit of tone and funk and emotion to it. The fact that he did something that is unusual adds even more bonus points.

Regular show really did drop the biggest bangers in cartoon history only to be used in a 2 minute long fight and never again in almost every episode

Does anyone else find it odd how David was all about harmony, and at certain points his notes created a perfect pattern while producing perfect sound

Gary and David's respective "halves" of the song also essentially showcase two different approaches to music- while David plays very rigid arpeggiated chords (you might be able to hear some Beethoven influence, as Beethoven did a lot of arpeggios to round out his music) Gary goes full funk with his riffs, using syncopated beats and dissonant chords to make his half pop.

I wish David wouldn't have died honestly.
Each makes good music but only together does this masterpiece attain life.
Gary's tunes feel almost as if they are trying to tell a story while David's are setting up a crazy beat for them.
So i kinda wish they would have stayed together to make sick new songs on their planet.
