OEM (pronounced as separate letters) is short for original equipment manufacturer, which is a somewhat misleading term used to describe a company that has a special relationship with computer and IT producers. OEMs are manufacturers who resell another company's product under their own company.

Before they simply call it Fake, then Immitation, then Class A (or B), and then triple AAA. OEM is just simply the modern-day term for a Fake. But if it serves the purpose and a value for money, then I don't care what they call it. :)

I'm building a modified 94 Silverado ss with a 454 motor, this is my first ever build and I've been watching motor trend alot I've been hearing the term OEM, well, if I'm going to build or restore a automobile, I refuse to use OEM parts, why? simply because if any part that doesn't have the manufacturer logo is second rate. Example, 2006 ss Impala has a motor but no transmission, you can't install just any after market transmission, you have no choice but to replace the original stock transmission that came in the 06 ss Impala

ummm so can you reuse the oem so long as you unistall it? cause my understanding the difference is oem is locked to one pc and full version can by reused but only on one pc at a time?

OEM labels can also be faked just like the boxes.
Better buy products to authorized dealers/distributors
