I appreciate you so much. Been looking all over on what buttons to press to get it to work for hours!

Thanks for the video. I just remember my old and vintage HP-15C also have a numeric solver ! That a good time to get the rust off from my HP-15C practices !

Enter the equation in program memory with label E (such as Equation):
g[P/R] f[CLEAR PRGM] f[LBL][ E ] [ 5 ] [ × ] [ 7 ] [ - ] [X↔Y] [ 3 ] [CHS] [ 9 ] [ + ] [ - ] g[P/R] (notice the final subtraction that stand here as a substitution for 'equality sign')

Then solve (E)quation with 0.0003 initial guess (to mimic the video example): [ 3 ][EEX][ 4 ][CHS] f[SOLVE][ E ] let the HP-15C running a short second and display the solution:

Hey Scott, I had an equation in which I was attempting to solve for the critical values, in this case it was y'=x^3 - 3x + 2, so I set y'=0 and used num-solv. Well it gave me one of the zeros (at x=-2) but not the other (at x=1). Do you know if there is anyway to get both answers to show using this method on the calculator? And thank you, this is such a handy trick to have!

Is there a maximum number of characters for the num solv ? Im working on some binomial distributions to find sample size but cant type everything i need into the solver

how do you solve for roots of complex numbers? Ex: (1+i)^(1/5)

Can it solve for multiple variables? I tried it and I am getting the wrong answer.
