Spiritfarer is a project that’s very close to the heart for me and the talented team at Thunder Lotus Games. It’s a positive, colourful and serene adventure about life, grief and compassion, where you guide spirit friends to the afterlife after caring for them in their last moments. It's not only about saying goodbye to characters but reflecting on what they leave after they've gone. It hopes to help us better address and openly discuss the subject of death, a common reality we’re all faced with.

The times we are living through have made the experience of writing music for this project all the more meaningful and I feel like Spiritfarer couldn’t have come at a better moment. The connections and relationships we develop with our friends and families stay with us, we have to treasure them, be more compassionate as individuals and a society, and better learn to say goodbye when the time comes.

As I was playing the game, my cat died. It's like the game came into my life just in time to show me how to properly say goodbye .

For me, Giovanni's event is the best when you focus just on the sounds... The comets falling, the music, the explosions... everything is a symphony.

I always love "Thunder Harvest" because you'll always have a tiny Atul playing a flute in your mind while listening to it

My 7-year-old has become obsessed with this game. She keeps talking to me about death and "her next life." We've used the game to give her a way to talk about this.

Been hooked on this game since I saw it on gamepass. The music is a HUGE part of it. Without spoiling anything, I just finished with Gwen. I 100% wasn't expecting it, but the whole scene, and especially the music, I cried. A 32 year old construction worker, brought to tears from a song in a video game. Borderline "Leaves from the vine" level amazing.

The clouds...
They're full of animal faces... I just noticed that after listening for this for like 10 times.

Can’t wait to cry for an hour and sixteen minutes while remembering how much I cried playing the game

The meteor shower theme will forever be one of the prettiest pieces of game music I have ever heard. During my first playthrough of the game, I'd often just leave the boat paused with the comet shower notification, doing my boat chores with the music and gorgeous sky in the background, going absolutely nowhere. It makes for a pretty screensaver too.

When I hear the Song of Growth there's an imagined cat meowing it

you really knocked it out of the park with the soundtrack. The music is one of the main reasons I bought the game. The way the music meshes with the atmosphere of the game is phenomenal and while listening to this i have it cut off at about 9ish minutes so i dont accidentally spoil myself on some of the songs so that they keep their impact for when it's important. Thank you so much for the sountrack

I hardly think about death, but when I nearly lost my father to cancer this year, my entire worldview shifted. This game... was really about "saying goodbye"... and your soundtrack hit me in my heart and soul. Thank you for this, Max. You've given all of us a gift I never thought the world needed, but we did.

I burst into tears on listening to What Will You Leave Behind.

Beautifully done, not only the music, but also the lyrics reminding me of the loved ones.

I've played this game twice now, the first time 3 yrs ago I think. I have nothing but great things to say about this ost, every track touched me in some way and the main theme never fails to make me emotional. Even though I hadn't been through fresh grief in over 10 yrs, there was one character who brought all those feelings up again so much so that I had to put the game down for a few days. Yes it was painful to feel that again, but I mean that as a credit to the game itself. This game is pure ART! It made me feel such visceral raw emotion that I haven't felt in years and I thank you Max and the rest of the team for this experience

The first time I entered the jellyfish swarm and heard Don't be Scared, Stella, it literally took my breath away. The track is haunting in every best way imaginable.
