What I Love and Hate About the 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium Convertible (POV)

This obviously isn't the enthusiast-spec S650 Mustang, but does it at least fare well as a nearly $50K daily driver?

Disagree with the exhaust note not bad sounding for a 4 cylinder

50k is outrageous. When I test-drove this I was genuinely disappointed. Handling and steering felt like a truck. Panel gaps issues were genuine. Everything was just lackluster. The only good reason this exists is to get them the development budget for enthusiast models like the Dark Horse and the Undebuted Shelby.

I bought my 5th Gen 2015 Mustang GT coupe fully loaded (Premium, Performance Pack) for 39k plus destination and tax new. Those were the days. Cars have gotten too expensive, about to buy an 86 Performance Pack or ND3 ragtop MX5.

It’s ok zygrene you could’ve just made a video 10 things I hate about this car 😂

Ford is out of their mind with pricing recently. Add to that the subpar quality and focus on gimmicky screens, and the S650 is a super tough sell. I'd rather get a used Camaro

Nothing the same with this 2.3 Ecoboost compared to the 2023 and before 2.3 Ecoboost out side of displacement.

Put it in dragstrip mode. The Ecoboost is .3 sec slower than GT.

Why did they get rid of the manual ecoboost convertible???

The guy's complaining it's too expensive! Then do not buy it. Unfortunately that is true for so many other things. Useless review!

MagneRide is NOT included with the Ecoboost Performance Package. It's $1, 750 extra and available only with the Performance Package.

They completely wasted time and money by giving you this press car. A lot of the points made are null and void lol

I currently own a 15 ecoboost and about to trade it for an integra type s in about a week. In your opinion is the integra a huge upgrade from the new ecoboost? Honestly I have not seen a comparison between the two and really would like to know. Thank in advance for your opinion.

When complaining about price, keep in mind that at $47K, this "well equipped" Mustang is still $10K less expensive than the base model Mercedes c-class convertible. That Mercedes would thenn need about another $4K to add the driver assistance packages and infotainment, and is almost 1sec to 60 slower, without improved fuel economy.. So, while the S650 Mustang is not inexpensive, it is competitive with the market. It also looks cooler than the Mercedes, especially with the roof down.

Worst thing about the GT is noise with the top down. Stay young and pay those high insurance prices!

Like: Beyond obvious top-down driving
1. Large Screen for Maps
2. Easy Top operation
3. Love the "back" small windows (wish my 2020 hard top came with that roll down feature)
4. Vented Seats
5. Active Exhaust

Hated:
1. Mustang heartbeat at startup gets old quick
2. Square styling vs the curves of the 5503.
3. Buttons on Steering wheel reversed (also the not round wheel, should be an option)
4. Charging pad is Worthless!
5. Digital gauges not clever, prefer analogue.

Will keep my 2020 fastback until they refine this one.

Fords pricing on the new Mustang is insane. The whole range is too expensive

All the tech you rave about is actually part of what I dislike about modern cars: extraneous complications to drive people crazy while driving. Infotainment systems are built to distract people when they’re supposed to be paying attention to the road. It’s all unnecessary garbage.

The digital dash is also ugly, unimaginative and now makes the Mustang look like a Kia inside. The 2023 dash was much better looking and looked sporty.

Multiple driving modes are another unnecessary complication. It’s supposed to be a sportscar—you only need one mode if the engine, suspension and steering are properly tuned. Otherwise you’re just a poser.

Not having a manual transmission is a sin. You don’t even have paddle shifters. Shows you what Ford thinks its potential buyers are.

All told I like the previous 2023 Mustang far better. The 2024 is over engineered, over complicated and with a fugly instrument panel. And they want way too much money for it.

I like it and would buy a used one in a year or two. That being said, I drove a 2020 EB premium convertible and I think I might like it better.

I don’t like the rear end on the EB. The GT’s butt looks better. If i wanted an ecoboost, id get a manual s550 with the performance packs on it. Looks better and has a stick, also 50% the price

Was not impressed with the ecoboost at all. We had a 2023 rental this past week and it felt lagy with the power band and the transmission was horrible. My Ford Maverick Hybrid feels smoother and quicker off the line that echoboost mustang. Years ago I had an 01 GT and then an 07 GT. Both highly modified and those where fun cars!
