Sonic Adventure 1 on Dreamcast was already a solid foundation for 3D Sonic. They even kinda sorta carried over the momentum-based physics from the 2D games. After that, Sonic team kept trying new things instead of just refining what was already there. Over two decades later and they're still experimenting with unsatisfying boost gameplay.

I'm still optimistic for the game. Although not in the case for EVERY game most of the times when they show first glimpse at gameplay it ends up being vastly different from the final version. Plus we'll be getting a look at the combat later today. Overall, I'm still excited mainly because I just wanted to see the environment & how it would look when we get the chance to play it for ourselves

I personally loved what I saw. There are a lot of mixed opinions, people don’t like that Sonic doesn’t have momentum when he grinds on rails, but I don’t mind that.

The guy playing (it wasn’t IGN, it was somebody at Sega), some people have been saying that there is momentum (only when Sonic’s running) but he was boosting a lot so you couldn’t see it.

To me, the gameplay looks like a mix of the Adventure and Boost gameplay and I like that. Sonic can boost but it’s not as insanely fast as it was in Unleashed and Generations and I think that’s good because I’m sure Sonic Team wouldn’t want you to just get from one area to another in just a couple minutes.

From what I saw, the control looks a heck of a lot better than Forces. I said this a while ago but I was worried about the turning in Frontiers but Sonic Team put my worry to rest because Sonic actually turns really well, unlike Forces where he controlled like a tank.

There were enemies in the open world but the person playing didn’t wanna fight them, one of them actually tried to attack Sonic.

They are using the Forces model but they gave it idle animations and some new ones as well.

The only 2 things I didn’t like were some of the animations because they clearly don’t look finished, and the pop-in. To me, those seem like minor complaints and I’m sure it’s something they can fix before release.

We’ve never had a PURE 3D Sonic game with no 2D sections since Sonic 06 and that’s something I really appreciate.

That gameplay was only focused on how Sonic controls. At the time of me typing this comment, we’re getting gameplay of Sonic’s combat abilities today and I can’t wait to see more of it.

IGN did say that we are getting a lot of news on Sonic Frontiers in this whole month of June so that is something to be on the lookout for.

Overall, I’m excited for Frontiers and I don’t care what anybody says. It definitely looks like a Sonic game that I will enjoy.

Oof. That pop in. Has a good foundation though but definitely needs work

When I first watched the showcase, I felt underwhelmed and needed to see more. I enjoyed what I saw, but the hype wasn't there.
