There's nothing like coming home to a nice, smooth glass of bourbon after a long day. The popular American whiskey, which has become all but synonymous with Kentucky, isn't for everyone — but aficionados can't get enough of the liquor's oaky flavor. While drinking the stuff is one thing, a true connoisseur is keen to learn all there is to know about bourbon, including its distillation and production process. After all, a lot of hard work goes into filling up your favorite whiskey glass. So sit back, relax, and pour a few fingers of Jim Beam, because you're in for a boozy — and educational — ride. Here's how bourbon actually gets made.

A few nitpicks about the video:

1. Bill Murray scene from "Lost in Translation" involved Japanese whisky, a different product
2. Jack Nicholson scene from "The Shining" involved Tennessee whiskey, a sub-variation instead of straight bourbon
3. Marianne Barnes clip is outdated. She got married and her last name is now Eaves. She also left Castle and Key back in 2019.

Sure Bourbon was born in Kentucky but by the Bourbon act from the United States Congress in 1964 Bourbon is declared as America's native spirit and Bourbon can be made anywhere in the USA not just Kentucky.

You can get great Bourbon made in Texas. Try out Ironroot Republic!

Speaking of bourbon, maybe a video about the controversy of MGP bourbon and rye whiskies? MGP mass-producing whisky for a number of brands isn't a bad thing in itself, they do have tasty mashbills, but the public should be aware that some brands, big and small, are dishonest about using outsourced liquor. The vodka market has the same problem.

'Southern Kitchen states "straight bourbon" applies to bourbon aged at least 2yrs but NOT MORE than 4". That's not true. It can be longer than 4. Four or more does not automatically make it Bottle In Bond as implied in the vid. Still, this is a well made and informative vid.

Bourbon doesn't have to be made in Kentucky, but the best ones are.

I thought that bourbon must be aged in charred new oak barrels for “a period of time”. straight bourbon must be at least 2-4 years old if the distiller provides an age statement. If no age statement it must be at least 4 years.

*People, this is 51% accuracy and 49% "BS", Bourbon is Bourvon when made to the Corn Whiskey recipe and distilled in Oak Wood Barrels. All Bourbon has a Woody taste and Sour Mash is a whole other recipe, ie: a Different kind of Whiskey.*

*In my perspective, the best Whiskey is made in Ireland, Pure Pot Still, "Redbreast Irish Whiskey"*

The Irish set the standard for Whiskey, their American relatives established a method in the Appalachian Mountains, USA. .

Mashed- Will you ever make an accurate whiskey video?? Less than a minute in, and you're already flat-out wrong. Every video I've watched is riddled with errors to the point I think you take 5 mins on Wikipedia before making a video. C'mon.

Really dislike them dumping the food on top of the animals heads. I don't care if it's a trough or a slop ground, that just seems impressively disrespectful and unneccessary.
