I’m still going to back it. One thing I took from this as it seems Bambu Lab is very forthcoming with help and trying to sort things out.
And their team has been very good at communicating online with the good and bad on their Facebook and discord..
good breakdown of what’s been going on and I’m looking forward to a follow up on what the final out come is..

6 months later I'm using a P1P and honestly it seems as close to perfect as is currently achievable out of FDM, and being under 5 grand is a nice bonus. Their slicer has actually become my favorite of any slicer and aside from maybe 2 prints my failed prints were due to issues on my end like trying to ramp the speed even further or miscalculating how big of a part I needed. One of those two failures was just bad luck, and while the other "failed" during a power outage, resumed with power, went a few layers and just stopped, I was able to resume it _again_ by unplugging it and plugging it back in, inducing my own little power outage.
I'm not surprised to hear someone may have finally had issues as it is just a printer and probably not magic, but even with X1C flaws that may or may not be resolved I think BambuLab is a company worth keeping an eye on

I really hope they can overcome these issues, because wow this printer has SO much potential.

Happy to report that the current shipping unit with AMS (as of Jan 2023) is working amazingly well out of the box. The quality of PLA, ABS and PETG prints have been outstanding especially considering how fast the printer is. The "Engineering" side of the flex plate with a coat of glue stick hold onto ABS, PETG, PA and PC exceptionally well. The extra time before each print to get flow rates calibrated and bed levelling perfect are a pain but it has resulted in prints succeeding 90% of the time. I've thrown so much money at cheap 3D printers over the years with really average prints. The gamble to spend the extra on this one has really paid off. The AI which is looking at the print does actually work if anything looks like it's started printing spaghetti or a part has fallen off. I get notified and can decide if I want to continue or can the job. The AMS also works really well (slow to change colours though) even when the spools get low. So it does look like some of the issues Jessy has seen on the unit he received have been addressed.

Great video. Almost backed this. Still thinking I'll get one after the kickstarter. Please do a follow-up to let us know what was wrong and how they dealt with it. Thanks

Great review. This is what people want to see, real world encounters using this machine. I hope the machines they release have these issues resolved.

How were you able to get to the "secret menu" for the AMS System? I agree with you, I feel like this is something that should be readily available and not hidden away.

I appreciate the honest review, but more detail on why the prints failed would be helpful. Was it heat creep, clogged nozzles, just software stopping, or something else?

PA is normally referring to Nylon (PolyAmide) with PC being PolyCarbonate (sometimes called Polycarb)

I appreciate this longer video really digging into it. It is good to see both sides of the fence. I am definitely interested to learn more about what they find and how they plan to implement fixes that will make this machine more friendly to the average user. Sure, a power user may not have a ton of issues, but I can see these little things being really annoying to first timers.

PA refers to nylon (polyamide) and PC refers to poly-carbonate. I really appreciate the honest reviews and updates to them!

Great video - after two kickstarter 3D printer purchases, the money saved does not cover the time and energy I had to spend to do updates and fixes. No more kickstarter printers for me! I like the innovations but will sit back and let this and other next generation printers mature and their problems get resolved before I dive in.

This printer (ironically) seems too complicated / over engineered. At first glance the features are impressive, but they aren't really necessary. It's not difficult to visually look at a first layer and know if your print is going to be a success. There is something really elegant about a simple printers that work and are easy to fix with cheap non-proprietary parts. It will be interesting to see how this printer does long term. Great vid Jessy! -Steven

Dang man. I'm sorry you've had all these issues! Just got back from MRRF and was able to finally watch this. It's great insight and info though. I've had great success with mine so far, and have been very happy with it. Maybe I need to try to print some of the files that were failing for you to compare? Also Filament Frenzy is killing it with his multi color printing right out of the box. It's awesome that they wanted it back to figure out what was happening. That shows the dedication of the company to make it right. Overall, great work on this video!

I'm so happy to see someone cover this printer critically instead of just trumpeting only the best bits.

I had a terrible time with my Prusa mini---eveyone raved about how great it was, I was never able to get a print until I changed out the extruder and replaced with a Bondtech, and many frustrating hours of fails, I finally got it all working and now it is very reliable, My Anycubic Viper worked great right out of the box, so I am hoping when I get the Bambu Lab it will not be a P. mini experience and more like s Vyper.
Thanks for the very concise and honest video

Is it just me or is the fact you have to use glue seem like a step back?

Great review! Your show and Michael’s from Teaching Tech are definitely the best ones on YouTube!

Excellent overview man! This kind of sums up my worries about this machine. They packed so many different components and features into it that there are bound to be issues. I'm sure a lot of it could be ironed out with software updates but I have a feeling some of them can only be solved with new hardware. As you said, I think the most exciting thing about this printer is that it might light a fire under some of the other manufacturers to start innovating more in the 3D printing space. Personally, I'll be waiting it out and seeing what the future has in store from both Bambu and the competition.
