The way he said “yea” was so heartbreaking and well acted.

This is the scene that finally broke me. Season 3 wasn’t as good as Season 1 or 2 but this scene was the cherry on the cake. It captured everything that made the show so beautiful.

"Or untill I go to heaven" killed me. The strength that kid has to face his reality like that is a blessing we all need.

Brilliant scene. Ricky showed his great range of acting skills during this scene. When the girl announced her name was “Lisa” the way he quickly looked up, as if to say; “of course you are” … what a moment that was. For the child to commit Ricky to coming to visit, and again the next day, or until she went to heaven … you could tell Ricky was looking at this beautiful, brave little soul and understanding how precious life is and how grateful we should be to grow old. I’d be curious to know how many takes were shot for this clip. Probably the best scene of season 3, or even the whole series in my opinion.

I'm a big hairy grizzled old biker, and I can tell you I cried like a baby watching this scene, this has got to be the most powerful and emotional scene in anything I've ever watched, amazing acting, and unbelievable writing, Ricky Gervais has got to be on parr with the best writers of all time...

The way Lennie keeps looking at Tony is pure magic. Simple and expressive acting which say more than words.

The whole thing just took me apart. I think I've been waiting 25 years to get over the death of my son and suddenly out it all came. The third series just opened everything up and I just let it go.

Lost my little brother to leukaemia 2 years ago and that children’s ward brought back a lot of emotions. Cried an awful lot watching this scene, great piece of writing from Ricky 👍🏽

I think it's so powerful seeing the journey Tony has gone through, he might not be completely there and likely never will be but he sees the beauty in living. Ricky is an absolute genius when it comes to writing, After Life is my favourite thing he's ever made

What got me is Tony's atheism being confronted with dying children asking him "do you believe in heaven?". When he said "definitely", it was a moment I often consider as an atheist myself. Do we give children a comfortable and lovely lie or do we try to prove we are right? I am okay with a comfortable lie because they lose nothing by it if they pass away. That fear of the unknown, fear of darkness, fear of not existing disappears if you simply reassure them. I'm fine with it. If I can make a horrible situation a little brighter for them, I will never deny them that. To me it's the same as telling children Santa Claus is real and let them figure out that he isn't later. I have to admit I cried a little.

That gut punch after "or until I go to heaven" is usually portrayed by a moment you know actors are acting... but Ricky just seemed so authentic! That was terrific!

Watched this last night with my wife. We have been separated for a while now but are starting to get things back on track. We both cried together watching this. It’s the first time we ever did anything like that in the 12 years we have been together. This is the most perfect bit of television I’ve ever seen

Thank you.

In a 28 year old father who prides himself on being strong and to carry my family through hard times no matter the storm, I cry often in my car alone on the way to the gym or coming home from work, I don't often cry in front of people as I feel vulnerable and can't let go, but watching this series I cried and laughed within the space of 2 minutes in front of my wife who just smiled and gave me a hug, I hope to teach my son that expressing your emotions to the right people can unburden some weight when it becomes to heavy to carry, but that doesn't mean you can't do something it's just mean you need to feel how you feel and keep moving forward, I learnt alot from this show from a parenting perspective, I hope my son becomes a much better man than I one day

I lost my 13 year old wonderful cousin Monique to leukaemia. I hadn’t been able to properly grieve for her and felt like I wasn’t giving her what she deserved. Even carrying her coffin and saying goodbye I couldn’t bring myself to accept it. Well this scene finally gave her the tears she deserved. Cancer touches everyone in some way, unfortunately sometimes it also takes those who’s lives haven’t even yet begun. For anyone who is unfortunate enough to have experienced this, I hope you all found healthy grief in this scene as I did. Thank you Ricky this was long overdue

A "comedian" writing stuff like this. Funny to moving and back to moving and back to funny and back to moving in 2:47. Now that's writing.
