Your double spaced example looks like a paper typed in the 1980s. My problem is people who are trying to design graphically complicated documents in word. Something Word was never designed to do. To get different headers different sections have to be applied using section breaks. Page numbering as you explain it will not work if different sections are involved. Each different section’s header/footer then needs to have the page number set up separately. This ends up being very similar to manually adding a text box on each page and putting the page number in that text box manually. Don’t get me wrong, for the kind of document you are creating - and it’s a fine approach - your method is great, and you explained it very well. I’m just frustrated with how others use Word and what they expect from it.
