So true. We call it concept, and I teach it to my students as well as in my own practice. It becomes a challenge though because it can be boring and we can be an impatient lot in wanting to learn music and getting it down for performance(s). However, if it becomes boring, walk away from it for awhile, practice/play on something fun, mix it up, then return back to it when feeling ready to challenge it. Great info, as usual. Thank you!

I like breaking things down, it gives my tired, over processing brain a chance to make sense of things. It can get boring, but taking frequent breaks for me helps, walking away like I do with painting and coming back to it, it’s like my brain has been reset and I can tackle the piece with a new perspective.

Chunking and 'slowdowns' work. But playing ultra slow just before going to bed works best.
Sometimes you have to let go of the task, and pick another task, then when you return to the original task, you may discover that the original task was not that difficult after all.
