I'm running into this issue with my 2002 2500HD Silverado. However, my problem is slightly different. When I'm driving it, the engine will randomly start to bog down and then die all in about 2 seconds. I will shift it up into park and notice the gear shift indicator is majorly delayed (it's not delayed at any other time). I start the truck back up and it'll run completely fine until it dies again. Whenever it does randomly bog down and die, I always notice the gear shift indicator is delayed. Could a bad neutral safety switch cause the truck to randomly die like that?

I replaced my switch and bought new connectors. I noticed the new connector has 7 wires when the wiring coming off the wiring harness has just 6. What’s this extra wire and is it needed? A diagram shows its pin A which is park/neutral signal. The truck will start with it in park and neutral so it may not be needed

i have a 4l60e in my australian 2001 vx ss commodore (ls1) do u think the neutral safety switch would be making my car only have 1 forward gear and reverse? (the car only starts in P and N) but when put into D it doesnt shift up out of what gear its in

My 03 Tahoe wn t go in reverse but all other gears

I disagree. Not the NSS. A faulty NSS will not allow the engine to crank. I believe it is the shift position sensor which is faulty in your vehicle.
