The anime really dropped the ball like I've never seen before at this scene. They just casually reveal the ultra traditionalist old man is a heavy metal rocker dude and then... cut away as if it was very unimportant and pick back up with him 2 or 3 episodes later after the fight.

The thing that makes this aspect of Gakuganji so funny isn’t just the fact that he’s an old man, but just how much build up he’s had as an untrustworthy, absolute traditionalist. Plus his design following certain hallmarks of fictional Japanese old men (his cane, his robes, his long beard and eyebrows, etc.)
