No one person designed the West Links. Over the years balls were thrown down and hit over the rumpled land - sandy hollows appeared and holes emerged.

Beautifully done! Visited Muirfield back in 2012... was on a backpacker's budget and opted not to try to play North Berwick. Should have made the trip!

Played this course in 1984...one of 13 courses in 11 days, and it wasn't even on my itinerary, but a business colleague, who I never met before, set up the tee time. It rained cats and dogs, and the wind was howling for the first 4-5 holes, and then it was beautiful. What a thrill to see NB again!

Had the pleasure to play there 8 years ago in early March as one of my first links courses. I felt in love with this kind of pure golfing experience and in the meantime played not only all past and current courses on The Open rota but some other dozens of links courses all over GB&I. Only played it once. Have a clear memory of the amazing back nine but this video has reminded me of the front nine today. Favourite hole is "Perfection". The one with the wall was bizzarre to play, though I think there is a vaguely similar hole on Royal Aberdeen.
