I thought the answer to the question was 'Yes' because I saw charges on the reactants but not in the final equation, so I assumed K was giving up an electron to Cl and it would make everything neutral...But then I eventually remembered that atoms in a compound must have opposite charges so they can attract, and neutral charges wouldn't solve that :)
