I gotta add something today. That avatar of me on the left is from 30 years ago - (I looked good at 60!). After all these years, remembering Miles and Joe Henderson and Chick and ALL the greats, to see Emmet and his crew here playing in New York at the very highest level, keeping it all alive, makes up for so much that is ugly in the world. Patrick shows us that pure classic alto feel on this tune, the brother plays sweet when he wants to, but still goes up and shines in that altissimo register to create superb climaxes. Chuck just kills me with all that melody and feeling and solidity on bass, and Joe Farnsworth - what can you say? So tuned in and looking so good and having such a great time! And there's Emmet with his big smile and relentless groove. Words fail me. The rhythmic synergy of this quartet is remarkable. Everyone is just right there We are so lucky to have you guys!

I really dig the bass solo and the comping going on behind it. _That's_ how to accompany a bass solo, folks.

Emmet, what a solo. Creativity on some cosmic level.

I was still in my teens when I bought a copy of _Fuchsia Swing Song_ by Sam Rivers (with Jacki Byard, Ron Carter and Tony Williams). Loved this composition of his ever since. And this is a great rendition.

Man that is some interplay between piano and drums during the piano solo. Such a great bass tone and Patrick is as always, incredible.

My favorite tune in all of jazz. Amazing to hear two of my favorite living musicians play it so beautifully.❤

This is a real gem! It deserves a place in the history of jazz - a distillation of 80 years or more of top level, small group, jazz variation and improvisation. What a joy!

Thank you for treating this wonderful Sam Rivers song with such beauty, care and passion! I discovered it on Joe Henderson’s seminal ‘State of the Tenor’ album 40 years ago (!) and have adored it ever since.

it'd be a crime against humanity if you didn't tour with this lineup of musicians and not come to chicago 👀
