Happens around here quite a lot, in fact - I believe it's the highest elevated airport in the UK?

I live next to here. Landed here quite a few times and even when it’s not too windy it can still be a crazy landing. It is the shortest airport runway in the UK

I live in Leeds and trust me it's not fun landing there in January...

It’s normal for Leeds/Bradford (Yeadon) airport, nothing out of the unusual on a windy day. I did my PPL back in 2000 and landed there on a cross country qualifying flight from Sherburn a few miles away. The airport was a Wellington bomber manufacturing site and never had an original purpose for planes to land back until it opened as an airport after WW2. Was lucky enough to fly Concorde from there once. And in the late 80s Wardair of Canada used to fly in a 747 on Monday’s from Toronto, before they went bust.

When was this? I was travelling from Spain in sept 16th 2013. We had a scary landing with strong winds. The pilot seemed to rev the engines whilst getting close to the runway.
Has actually given me a bit of fear of flying ever since.

Captain: "Cripes but that's a short runway!'
Co-pilot: 'Yes, sir - but look at the width of it!'

I live under the flight path for Leeds/Bradford.. I've been on a flight that couldn't land there because of the weather.... must have been bad that day
The trouble with the airport is its in the north of the town, which is hilly, and the runway isn't well alligned to the prevailing winds because the landscape is such that thee was a limited way it could be placed (a pilot told me this, someone I met socially, not someone who was flying me)

Stormy weather is nothing unique to the British Isles. I've lived here all my life, and we regularly get winds in excess of 50 mph
In fact, right now we are experiencing another storm with very strong winds. Leeds Bradford, which is situated high up in the
North Yorkshire Moors, is notorious for these fierce cross winds.
