The main problem with the Fantastic Beasts franchise is that there was only actually one Fantastic Beast Movie. The other two were "Dumbledore with Newt shoehorned in for no reason" movies.

If they wanted to make a Fantastic Beast series then it should have been an actual series about Newt and The Fantastic Beasts.

I really wanted a Fantastic Beasts continuation. I really wanted to see the Dumbledore vs Grindelwald duel.

Glad Cursed Child will go no further. Very sad FB is dead.

Knowing JK herself will be so invested in the series, more than the movies, is getting me hyped up. Can't wait to see where she takes it.

When I first heard about the cursed child script coming out, I was excited because it was a continuation of the series we know and love. When I actually got down to reading it, I became more and more disgusted and repulsed by its contents. From the way they change the lore to changing the personalities of old characters like Harry, Ron and Hermione, to creating a child of Voldemort for no legitimate reason, to making Albus this whiny kid who’s going on about how terrible it is to be the kid of someone famous, to the strange time travel plot that made no sense, to even the story’s so called logic that didn’t even make sense. It felt like the people who wrote it didn’t even read the original books, maybe a small condensed synopsis online and maybe part of the films, but not much else. It felt like a slap in the face that this was the best they came up with. And even if JK didn’t write it, she still gave her seal of approval before it was published, so that told me she didn’t care if it was bad or broke the lore. That’s when I started to lose respect for her, long before her comments on twitter. And the Fantastic Beasts just continued that feeling of the creators being apathetic towards what they were creating, like it didn’t matter if it was good, just that they made a profit at the end of the day. Personally, the whole Grindlewalds rise to power and his relationship with Dumbledore is an interesting thing to explore, but it should have been it’s own unique thing apart from the Fantastic Beasts movies. It was earlier this year when playing the Hogwarts Legacy Game that I once again felt the magic of this world, you could tell the developers really cared about this universe by how much detail they were putting into this game, from putting things in the game that never made it into the films, to making a very interesting story with interesting characters, though I haven’t yet finished the main story yet. Plus there’s the mobile HP game Magic Awakened that’s coming out soon so I’m looking forward to that. So while JK will be involved with this tv series reboot of the films, I am hopefully optimistic that this could be a second coming of this amazing universe, with a retelling of the original story that is more faithful to the books than the films were. I look forward to seeing you all on Platform 9 &3/4 on September 1st.

As someone before me has said in this comment section, there was only one "Fantastic Beasts" movie. The other ones were about Dumbledore and Grindelwald's backstory and everything. One thing which was quite infuriating - at least for me - was "Time travelling McGonagall." If they wanted to make a series about Dumbledore's past, they could have without calling it "Fantastic Beasts." I think it would have well-received then since we would get a clear backstory for the most mysterious and secretive man.

Eddie Redmayne was the best part of Fantastic Beasts, I loved the character of Newt. Hopefully they can get Eddie into the TV show some way ❤

Oh Dean your take on The Cursed Child is just too funny! The thought of Voldy “doing the honky tonk with Bellatrix” made me laugh so hard!!!

Please no cursed child, I had to force myself through the screen play. I am glad they are doing a Harry Potter series, though movies were good but we’re not true to the books. The movies did not give Ron or Ginny there proper due. I hope the series fix that and I really want the book ending and not the hollywood ending in the book. I loved the seen in the book were Harry and Voldermort faced each other in the great hall in front of everyone.

if they race swap i'm not watching. hermione can't be ruined. there was already plenty of diversity in original movies.

I REALLY wanted the Fantastic Beasts movies to continue to the end there was so much I wanted to see and I wanted to see more of Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald also if the Cursed Child was added as season 8 of the Harry Potter series it would be like season 8 of Game of Thrones.

The Fantastic Beasts movies should've been about Newt looking for these magical creatures and protect them against the bad guys.

For example, I would have liked to have seen capture the obscurial of the 10 year-old girl... the one in his suitcase. That could've been quite an adventure.

The Dumbledore/Grindelwald story should have been a separate movie series.

To be fair, a child of Voldemort would've worked had the said kid had a different mother, not been born during the series run/born during Tom Riddle's early career (I wouldn't be shocked if Riddle had a hedonistic phase and just used women for pleasure) and had a better explaination as to where this kid had been (were they raised in the Muggle world? Was the child a Squib?). Honestly, Delphini's basically the precursor to Rey Palpatine in this regard.

Personally, I really liked Fantastic Beasts. The first one was alright, but it didn’t have the connections to the Potter story that I wanted. The Crimes of Grindelwald and Secrets of Dumbledore were great and were what I wanted Where to Find Them to be. It had Hogwarts, the Elder Wand, Dumbledore, the Deathly Hallows, and Gellert Grindelwald in his prime. I am glad that I got to see a duel (even though it wasn’t the 1945 duel) between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. On a side note, there is a rumor of a Dumbledore/Fantastic Beasts show, so maybe if that’s true they can wrap up the story.

As for Cursed Child, I really wanted the original cast to get back together and adapt the story. It would have been great to see the trio back together in a movie.

I do not want a reboot. It could have been any other part of the Wizarding World like the rise of Voldemort, the Marauders, the Founders of Hogwarts, etc. There was so much potential to explore a different era. Maybe if the Harry Potter TV Show doesn’t do very well, JK and WB can decide to finish Fantastic Beasts and make Cursed Child movies with Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Plus, Evanna Lynch said that the cast all respects Jo and there’s no conflict on either side. Those all can’t just be rumors.

A woman who basically raised her children alone and wrote a book series that is beloved states that a man cannot be a woman and a woman cannot be a man is not a villain even though she has been historically liberal and mostly progressive. This is the strange world we live in. I for one am looking forward to the TV series and I am right of center and don't care she is because unlike the left I can separate the writers politics from the story.
