SD10.1: Steel Design of a Short-span Railroad Bridge (Part 1)

preview_player
Показать описание
This lecture deals with the design of tension and compression steel members in a bridge. The lecture consists of two parts. Part one of the lecture (this video) presents the bridge analysis. Part 2 (link below) deals with the actual design of the tension and compression members forming the side trusses supporting the bridge.

A Microsoft Excel app has been developed and used in Part 1 to analyze the structure under the live (train) load. The app can be downloaded from the following link.

Note: This app uses Visual Basic code to perform the necessary structural analysis computations. You may need to provide Excel with permission to run macros; otherwise, the sheets may not update correctly.

Thank you so much for all the videos you made (every single one without exception). I hope you'll create more videos, especially focusing on steel connections, which are the heart of steel design. Thank you very much from Italy.

Good day Dr Structure. I am very happy production of these fruitful videos which are shaping into becoming a good designer. I have a project question that i am struggling with which is dealing with designing a robust water with steel framing.

I am emailing you the screenshots of the project description and kindly requesting for your assistance in any form possible.

I have tried using the iframe but i am struggling.

Would you tell us the reason why is it a practice that structural steel box girders for metro rail transit are joined at a location just after the portal beam support? The joint is located within the clear span of the box girder but near the support ?
