The problem is that the absorption doesn’t take place at the surface, because porous absorption is only effective at slowing down air particles with a high sound velocity. This is at 1/4 of the wavelength.

Ive heard that a perforated acoustic absorber plate (like MDF wood, for example) has even more chance of absorbing noise than a smooth one. Is that true? And if it is, does that mean that if you perforate that piece of paper in the video, does the ball will bounce even less?
