PS3 40 GB Flashing red light 3 beeps

Bought this 40 gig PS3 off Ebay. Seller stated that while playing a/v output stopped working. They switched to HDMI and then that stopped working. When I power it on from the back the red standby comes on. I press it and I hear a click near the power supply and it turns off for a few seconds.It beeps three times and flashes red. No other colors, just red. Fan is working fine, I have replaced the power supply and added new thermal paste. Still has the same issue...

i have a 40 gig version. everytime i try to turn its ON as u hear the fan spins it shuts down but i dont have red or yellow light it shuts when its green light. what do u say to that

I switched power supplies but still have the same problem. I have yet to find a fix :(

Change your power supply and see what happens. Same problem with me. I have a FAT PS3...

It might be your fan or CPU thermal paste those are the Main reasons the others are either cracked motherboard or some other fault in hardware

they say, switch ps3 off, give it few minutes rest, than get the hard drive off, than put it on again, and switch ps3 on.

Did you manage to fix the problem? Cos my ps3 does the same thing.

had same problem and after 15 minutes of pressing the on and off button it eventually would start and stay on.

look like a blu ray drive problem (maybe pcb)...
